Term 4

This is the last term for the year. This term we are looking at different types of safety. The past few weeks we have been looking at hazards in the home and at school. We have learnt a lot about hazards and now we can explain how to stay safe from these dangers. We enjoyed being detectives and looking for the hazards in these interactive sites

Visit from the Hits Radio Station.

Today we were very lucky to have James and Rach from the hits radio station in our room because Drew and his Mum had entered a competition and they won! So this meant we got morning tea for the class. We were very lucky.  It was a yummy morning tea.  We had cakes, mini mince pies and sandwiches. We got to play a game and we sung a song which they recorded and it is going to be played back on the radio tomorrow morning so we can listen to ourselves!

Our trip to Queens Park

This is us sitting in the bus.  We are happy!

This is us looking at the plants.  Connor is looking at the plants up high!
We learned that the fly catchers catch flies.  We learned about the Sap in plants, it is like water!

Here is the Cockatoo.  Javarn learned that it has a sharp beak to crack nuts!
The Cockatoo talked to us, but we couldn't really understand what he was saying to us.  He repeats what he hears from humans.
He can sometimes be very lazy!

This was our last stop for our visit and it was to see the Deer!  They have antlers to protect themselves from other animals.  This is a stag.  Some stags live in the wild.  The antlers come off once a year and they grow new ones.

Term 2

We have started of the Term by looking at Living Creatures.  We have a good display of books and pictures of animals.  We have talked about the word "camouflage" and how animals adapt to their environments.
Here is our classroom display....

We have learned that all living things need food, shelter, water, and oxygen to breathe to survive in their environment.
We have talked about the Elephant.  The Elephant has a long trunk so it can drink water, this helps it to survive in it's environment.  It also has long ears to help it hear things coming from a long way away.  The Elephant skin is brown or grey so they can camouflage themselves from other living creatures.
The mountain goat adapts to it's environment by having hooves on the bottom of its feet so it can grip onto the rocks and mountains without slipping.  If it didn't have these it would not survive in its environment.

Inquiry Learning

Inquiry Learning....

We have been taking notice of the rubbish that is being left behind after lunches.  Mr King come in with the big rubbish bag and showed us the rubbish bag in particular all the glad wrap.
We have decided for our Inquiry technology unit we are going to make sandwich wraps that can be used to wrap sandwiches in rather than using glad wrap.
Here is a photo of Mr King and Mrs Sander with all the rubbish....

We have been busy making our sandwich wraps and here is a photo of some of the children with their wraps.  We enjoyed making our sandwich wraps.  We got to decorate them with love hearts, hands, smiley faces, dolphins and fish.  We are going to use these to wrap our sandwiches in.  By doing this it will also help to keep them fresh!

Im Lucia.  This is my sandwich wrap.  This is going to help keep my sandwiches       fresh.
Hi I'm Aless.  This is my wrapper.  I use it everyday to wrap my sandwiches in.  It has love hearts on it.
